A personal companionship service for LGBTQ+ older adults in Brooklyn — and for families who need someone trustworthy on the ground.
Get in touchWho we serve
You built a chosen family. Maybe you built it out of necessity, maybe out of joy — probably both. And now that network is thinning. Not because anything went wrong, but because that's what time does. Brooklyn Kin is for the person who wants company that doesn't require explanation. Someone who gets it.
You live in Chicago or Los Angeles or Portland, and there's a parent in Park Slope you call twice a week and still worry about. Brooklyn Kin gives you a specific person on the ground — not a rotating agency staff — who knows your family member and shows up consistently.
What we do
Companionship
Coffee, walks, conversation. Card games, films, reading aloud. Sitting with someone who simply wants company.
Practical
Grocery runs, pharmacy pickups, dry cleaning, the post office, the bank. Handled, without making it feel like a chore.
Support
Walking or taking the subway to doctors, dentists, therapists. Staying in the waiting room — or, if invited, coming in.
Home
Tidying a common area, organizing a closet, light kitchen cleanup, watering plants. Not heavy cleaning — just keeping things manageable.
Technology
Setting up a phone or tablet. Navigating streaming services, video calls, email. No judgment — just patience and a working solution.
Community
Accompanying clients to SAGE programs, cultural events, community gatherings. Getting out and staying connected to the city you love.
Brooklyn, New York
A 5-mile radius from Williamsburg. One person. The whole borough still feels like home.
About Billy
I'm Billy Waldron. I'm 39, I live in Williamsburg, and I've been part of this community my whole adult life. I'm not visiting the Brooklyn LGBTQ+ world — I live in it. I know what it looks like when someone's network thins out, and I know how much it matters to have someone reliable in your corner.
Brooklyn Kin isn't a staffing agency. There's no rotating roster of companions. When you hire Brooklyn Kin, you get me — consistent, on time, and genuinely glad to be there.
I built this because the gap I'm filling is real. There are volunteer programs that can't keep up with demand and clinical agencies that don't understand who they're serving. Brooklyn Kin sits in the middle: personal, premium, and actually part of the community it serves.
